#MYHISTORYMATTERS
The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) has been around since the late 1800s and is the largest historical society with 26 historic sites across the state of Minnesota. MNHS had long been known to disseminate the history of communities of European dissent. I created the #MyHistoryMatters initiative for MNHS to to demonstrate the richness of diversity of Minnesotans and that everyone’s history matters. The tactic was simple, approach everyday Minnesotans from all walks of life and ask them to fill out a large card with the reason why their history matters to them and pose for a portrait with the card. The initiative existed also to build build community engagement and awareness of history and promote MNHS’ new more diverse vision of inclusion history archiving for all.
